I really enjoy traveling. I wouldn’t say I travel a whole lot, but it’s definitely something I want to do more of. Matt travels quite a bit for his job, so he’s been able to visit so many different places. The only problem with traveling for work is you don’t typically get a whole lot of free time to explore the city you’re in. With that being said, he has a whole list of places he would love to go back to and really experience. Austin, TX was one of them! So, last September we decided to take a vacation to Austin. We actually went to San Antonio for half the week and then Austin for the second half of the week. I will do a travel guide for San Antonio soon!
Where We Stayed
Staying in Austin is actually very expensive, especially if you want to stay downtown where everything is going on. Instead of draining our bank accounts on a hotel in downtown Austin, we decided to stay in an airbnb. We had a great experience with the airbnb we chose. “Never judge a book by its cover” describes this airbnb perfectly. You’ll see…..
Upon arrival, I immediately thought we made the worst decision of our lives. I mean, I wasn’t sure what to expect when we walked in, but it turned out to be really nice on the inside. The owner was also very kind and easy to work with.
We were so excited to be in Austin and experience the night life. As I mentioned earlier, we actually started off our vacation in San Antonio, and then made our way to Austin. Even though we stayed in Texas the entire time, both cities were so different that it really felt like we were on two separate vacations. San Antonio was beautiful and relaxing, and Austin was more of a party scene. It was the perfect combo!
Places I Would Recommend
- The Jackalope
- The Parlor Room
- Drinks Lounge
- Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden
- Prohibition Creamery
- Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar
We didn’t do much sight seeing when we were in Austin, which is why all of the places I recommended had to do with food and booze! Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar was an amazing experience. I would highly recommend it. It was different than your typical night out in a bar or a club. It was extremely entertaining and interactive; Matt and I had a great time! The Prohibition Creamery was also one of my favorites. Alcohol infused ice cream….could it get any better than that?!
Thanks for stopping by, friends. Be sure to subscribe! And let me know what cities are on your travel bucket list!
