Ho, Ho, Ho! I’ve been in the holiday spirit since last Christmas, but since it’s frowned upon to keep your Christmas lights up all year round, I waited until November to break it all out again. And I still got dirty looks! Mostly from my husband, haha. Anyway, Christmas is like my thing. If you know me at all, you know that I love Christmas, dogs, and ice cream. Amongst other things, of course. So, it’s only fitting that the girl who loves Christmas would throw some sort of Christmas themed party, right? Right!
Ugly Christmas Sweater parties are insanely popular nowadays. Companies have capitalized on the fact that people will spend upwards of $50 for an “ugly Christmas sweater.” It’s kind of insane. But just like everyone else, my friends and I partake in this super fun event! I’ve been to several ugly sweater parties, but it wasn’t until last year that I planned and hosted my own. And I’m excited to say that I’ll be planning the party again this year! So, I decided to take my love for Christmas and my vast ugly sweater party experience and put together the “Ultimate Ugly Christmas Sweater Party Planning Guide.” That was a mouthful, haha.. Let’s begin!
Drinks, drinks, drinks
What would a party be without drinks, of course! But since this is a super fun Christmas party, it’s the perfect opportunity to get creative. Last year we made an insanely good (and dangerous) Christmas punch, and this year we’re having a Christmas themed mimosa bar. It makes drinking a little more festive! If you don’t drink alcohol, you could still make virgin Christmas punch and virgin mimosas. You could also have a hot cocoa bar. The options are endless!
Photo Booth
Photo booths are always a great time. It encourages people to take more pictures, which you can all appreciate for years to come! It’s also super easy to create a DIY photo booth. Make your back drop by applying wrapping paper to a blank wall, or you can buy a Christmas themed backdrop on Amazon! You can then hand out props for guests to take photos with. It’s a super festive way to make memories!

Cookie Decorating
I’m a big fan of baking and getting creative, so having a cookie decorating station is right up my alley. All you need to do is bake (or buy) sugar cookies, gingerbread cookies, whatever you like really, and provide some goodies to decorate them with. It’s super fun and it also gives your guests something else to do besides drink and eat and drink and eat….
Awards
If you’re going to ask people to dress up for this party, why not make it a competition?! People will go all out if they know that a super awesome award is up for grabs. OK, maybe not a super awesome award… Nonetheless, a little competition always makes for a fun time!
